Molybdenum wire is a high-strength, high-temperature-resistant metal material primarily used in wire EDM, high-temperature equipment manufacturing, and surface spaying coating.
Molybdenum Wire for EDM
As a core consumable for wire EDM machines, molybdenum wire, thanks to its high tensile strength (up to 1930 N/mm²) and stable discharge performance, has become the preferred material for precision metal machining. Specific applications include:
- Mold Manufacturing: Processing small molds with sharp corners and narrow gaps, such as automotive parts (piston rings, synchronizer rings, and transmissions);
- Cutting Thick Workpieces: Compatible with conventional wire EDM machines, it can withstand cutting currents exceeding 700 amperes and is suitable for cutting steel, magnetic materials, and other materials;
- Process Optimization: We differentiate between soft wire (for high-angle cutting) and hard wire (for vibration resistance) to meet diverse processing needs. Some products feature a roughened surface design to improve efficiency.
Molybdenum Wire for High-Temperature Equipment Manufacturing
Molybdenum wire performs exceptionally well in high-temperature environments and is primarily used in the following applications:
- Vacuum furnace components: used as heating elements, guide rods, or brackets, with temperature resistance exceeding 2000°C;
- Electronics: used in the manufacture of precision components such as tube sockets and filament brackets;
- Aerospace: used in missile launchers, satellite components, and other structural parts for use in extreme environments.
Molybdenum Wire for Surface Spraying and Repair Processes
Molybdenum wire can be used for flame or arc spraying to form a wear- and corrosion-resistant molybdenum coating on workpiece surfaces. Specific applications include:
- Automotive Parts Repair: enhancing the wear resistance of worn parts such as piston rings and synchronizer rings;
- Industrial Equipment Maintenance: used as a hardfacing material or intermediate transition layer to repair the surfaces of mechanical parts;
- Special Process Requirements: Sprayed molybdenum wire can achieve controllable surface roughness, making it suitable for corrosion protection in acidic and alkaline environments.
