Types of Tungsten Alloy
The tungsten alloy products produced by our company mainly include the following types:
Tungsten Nickel Copper Alloy
Tungsten nickel copper alloy (W-Ni-Cu alloy) is a high-density alloy with tungsten (W) as the matrix and nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) as the bonding phase. It is an important type of tungsten-based heavy alloy.
Tungsten Lanthanum Alloy
Tungsten lanthanum alloy is an alloy material based on tungsten and added with an appropriate amount of lanthanum trioxide (La2O3). The content of lanthanum oxide in commonly used alloy is generally 0.5%~2.5%.

Tungsten Cerium Alloy
Tungsten cerium alloy (WCe alloy) is a tungsten alloy with tungsten as the matrix and a small amount of cerium oxide (CeO₂) added. Its typical composition includes about 97%~98% tungsten and 1.5%~2.5% cerium oxide.
Tungsten Silver Alloy
Tungsten silver alloy (WAg alloy) is an alloy material composed of silver (Ag) and tungsten (W), in which the silver content is generally between 30% and 70%.

Advantages of Tungsten Alloy
Enhanced Machinability
Tungsten alloys are much easier to machine than pure tungsten due to added elements like nickel, iron, or copper, which reduce brittleness. This enhanced machinability allows manufacturers to use standard equipment, which lowers production costs and benefits industries requiring precision engineering. For example, aerospace and medical device manufacturers can achieve the precise tolerances they need without the challenges posed by pure tungsten’s rigidity.
Superior Durability and Toughness
Tungsten alloys are more durable and tough than pure tungsten. Adding metals like rhenium increases ductility and tensile strength, enabling them to withstand greater mechanical stresses. This makes them ideal for high-impact applications, such as armor-piercing projectiles and aerospace components, where materials must endure extreme forces without cracking or failing.
Customizable Properties for Versatility
A key advantage of tungsten alloys is their ability to be tailored for specific applications. By adjusting the composition, manufacturers can enhance properties like thermal stability, electrical conductivity, or corrosion resistance. This versatility allows tungsten alloys to excel in a wide range of industries, from electronics to radiation shielding, where specialized material characteristics are critical for success.
High Density and Strength
Tungsten alloys maintain the high density of pure tungsten, making them perfect for applications needing significant weight and strength in a small form. This is particularly useful in areas like radiation shielding, where compact yet heavy materials are essential, or in aerospace, where components must be both strong and space-efficient.
Exceptional Corrosion Resistance
Tungsten alloys are highly resistant to corrosion, making them ideal for chemically aggressive or moisture-rich environments. This property ensures their durability in applications such as chemical processing equipment, where exposure to harsh substances is frequent. Their corrosion resistance not only extends their lifespan but also reduces the need for costly replacements and maintenance, offering long-term reliability.
Applications of Tungsten Alloy
Aerospace
Aerospace alloy applications include rotor blades, propellers, inertial systems, fluid control systems, bucking bars, trim weights, and prototype models.
Medical
High-density alloys are widely used in collimators (X-ray and radiation therapy), medical isotope production, transport and containment, and a variety of radiation shielding applications.
Homeland Security
Tungsten alloys are used in large container inspection devices. They are also used in airport security in package, luggage, and personal X-ray devices.
Oil and Natural Gas Wells
The radiation shielding properties of tungsten alloys protect sensitive equipment used to detect oil and natural gas deposits. High-density alloys are also used for casing material in down hole logging where casings must be heavy enough to sink through mud and strong enough to withstand intense hydrostatic pressure.
Automotive
Tungsten products are widely used in the automotive industry as a whole, particularly in tooling and die cast applications.
Auto Racing
Skid plates made from our rugged tungsten alloys offer greater protection than traditional materials. Chassis weights (designed for balance and lowering the car’s center of gravity) made from high-density alloys take up significantly less volume than their lead counterparts.
