Yttrium tungsten electrode, as a common rare earth tungsten electrode, is an electrode product composed of two elements, tungsten and yttrium. It is an alloy product that adds an appropriate amount of yttrium oxide (Y ₂ O3) as a modifier on the basis of pure tungsten electrode. The main metal component is tungsten, containing 1.8% -2.2% yttrium oxide, and the electron work function is 2.8eV-3.2eV. The brand is WY20, and it is distinguished by blue.
Its penetration reaches its maximum at medium and high current. And widely used new materials such as high strength titanium alloys, high temperature components, intermetallic compounds. ceramics and metal bases,etc.
Luoyang Rare Metal Research Material Co.,Ltd can produce various kinds of tungsten electrodes, our WY tungsten electrodes are of good quality, easy arc,durable and have excellent welding performance.
We have large quantity of tungsten electrodes in stock, and can also customized according to your requirements.

Product Feature
From the perspective of physical and chemical properties, the yttrium tungsten electrode has the characteristics of pure tungsten electrode and yttrium oxide, mainly manifested in high melting point, high elastic modulus, strong electron emission ability, good arc starting performance, high arc column stability, low burnout rate, good electrical and thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, etc.
It is worth mentioning that the main reason for doping some yttrium oxide with low electron work function in pure tungsten electrode is to increase the recrystallization temperature of the product and activate electron emission, thereby making up for the low emission efficiency and easy breakage of pure tungsten electrode.

Product Advantage
The yttrium tungsten electrodes have many advantages:
- Stable arc and high weld quality;
- Low electrode loss, reducing replacement frequency;
- Non radioactive, safer operation;
- Suitable for high-precision and high cleanliness welding.
- When welding, the arc beam of WY electrode is slender and the degree of compression is large. Its melting depth is the largest at medium and large currents.
- It has excellent performance when welding high-strength titanium alloy load-bearing components, single crystal or coarse crystal materials used in high-temperature components of jet engines, intermetallic compounds, ceramics and metal-based composite materials and other new materials. Therefore, it is mainly used in military industry and aviation and aerospace industry.
product Application
Yttrium tungsten electrode is a tungsten electrode containing yttrium oxide (Y₂O₃), which has a wide range of applications in the field of welding.
1) DC welding:
It is usually used in DC welding. As a DC negative electrode, it is suitable for welding positive electrode materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy, and titanium alloy.
2) Argon arc welding (TIG welding):
It is a key material in argon arc welding and is suitable for welding various metal structures, including aerospace, automobile manufacturing, electronic components and other fields.
3) Plasma welding:
In the plasma welding process, it also plays an important role and is used in new energy manufacturing, shipbuilding, vehicle manufacturing, engineering machinery, hardware processing, nuclear power aviation manufacturing and other fields.
4) Military and aerospace parts welding:
Due to its good welding performance and high temperature resistance, it is often used to weld key parts in the military and aerospace fields. Common welding objects are carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and aluminum, etc.
The applications make them an indispensable welding tool in modern industry, especially in fields that require high-quality and high-precision welding.
Product Production Flow
Powder metallurgy process is the method we commonly adopt to produce various kinds of tungsten electrodes.

Precautions for use
- Polarity selection:
Priority is given to direct current positive connection (DCEN) to avoid excessive losses during AC welding.
- Tip processing:
When grinding the electrode tip, a dedicated grinding wheel is required to prevent contamination.
- Gas protection:
Paired with high-purity argon gas (≥ 99.99%) to ensure no oxidation in the welding area.
